Day 24: June 7


Our first day in Foz do Iguacu was an exciting one! We visited the Itaipu dam where Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana (UNILA) is located. We visited the campus where we had a lecture from a Professor from UNILA about the future of renewable energies in Brazil. We then had a mock Climate Agreement with the students of UNILA. We had a great time discussing what each country would need to contribute to meet the challenge of not increasing the worlds temperature by 2 degrees Celsius due to global warming.  It was interesting to discuss global warming and the political issues with students from other countries.

We leave Sao Paulo and head to our next city- Curitiba! We are looking forward to seeing and learning about the Sustainable City. Our first evening in Curitiba, we toured downtown and had dinner at a wonderful hamburger place.

Today we visited the Museu do Futebol and learned about how important futebol (soccer) is here in Brazil.  We then to Ibirapuera park, which is a large park in Sao Paulo (similar to Central Park in NYC). We played soccer and volleyball and got to see some of the nature that the park had to offer.
